Popular Demand | Carpet or Hardwood?

You’ve moved to a new home and you are looking to change things up a bit. You have the decision to either choose carpet or hardwood flooring. Which will best match the furniture and countertops? Which is most affordable? Which is easier to clean? Both carpet and hardwoord have their own features and benefits. Perhaps going throught a few pros and cons would help.

Hardwood Floors

Hardwood Floors

Hardwood floors can be quite stylish and can compliment any room. It brings a certain warmth with its natural colors wood colors. It opens up a room, creating different environments for each room; comfy, sophisticated, lively. Hardwood is great.

It is, however, high maintenance. It needs to be varnished from time to time in order to bring back and maintain the life of the wood. It can be noisy, especially if you have a two story home with hardwood up stairs. The scuffs add up, so again, consistently cleaning and maintaining the wood is necessary.

Carpet

Carpet Floors

Carpet has some great qualities as well. During those cold winter months (especially if you live here in St. George like us), carpet can keep the heat in the room a lot better than hardwood flooring. It’s a lot easier to install and takes less time. The color patterns and materials are almost endless, so if you big on interior design, you have a lot to work with.

But then you have the dirt, grime, stains, and even mold that can build up over time. If you have a habit of vacuuming a few times a week, you’re fine. If not, it’s going to cost you when the time finally comes to either replace or deep clean your carpet.
